Former Special Branch officer turned private investigator Balasubramaniam a/l Perumal was hired by Abdul Razak Baginda (special consultant to the Malaysian Ministry of Defence and a close friend of Najib Razak) to keep an eye on "that Mongolian Woman" Altantuya Shaariibuu who arrived in Kuala Lumpur the first week of October 2006 to meet Baginda and demand that he pay her USD500,000 for her role in the 2005 Scorpene submarine deal. Bala saw Altantuya being abducted from Razak Baginda's residence around 7:30PM on 19 October 2006 by three people, two of whom were personal bodyguards of Najib Razak. She was never again seen alive.
